Food Historian & Writer
Session: Narrated exhibit on the history of MSG dating back to the 19th century
Nadia Berenstein is a historian and journalist who writes about food, science, technology, and culture. Her work has appeared in Food & Wine, Serious Eats, New Food Economy, Lucky Peach, and Popular Science, among other places. She has been a guest on NPR’s Science Friday, and was an advisor for the Museum of Food and Drink’s inaugural exhibition, "Flavor: Making It and Faking It." She is currently at work on her book, Flavor: An Artificial History, which tells the story of synthetic flavors and the people who make them. She has a PhD in the History & Sociology of Science from the University of Pennsylvania. You can read more about her research on her blog, "Flavor Added".
